Foam In Place Packaging

Our packing foam systems are available in low, medium, and high densities (.32 - 3.0pcf), and are offered in semi-rigid, flexible molding, and Mil Spec systems. Typical packaging foam products are our SRP40 (0.4pcf, for foam in place packaging and molding), and PMP90 (0.9pcf for superior cushioning). Polyfoam's MILPRO Mil Spec systems are formulated to meet applicable military specifications. Our foam in place packaging foam expands up to 100x its liquid volume.

To illustrate, a 60 gallon container of component A and B when mixed 1 to 1 can expand enough to fill a tractor-trailor. Imagine all that packaging material stored in two 60 gallon containers! Furthermore, foam in place packaging provides superior protection as it surrounds your product, creating a custom mold each time. It may also reduce your need for multiple box sizes, since foam can easily fill any void.

Whether your company is small or large, Northeast Foam and Equipment can provide you with the solution to your packaging needs. We offer a full range of products, from hand held foam dispensing equipment to automatic bagging machines. Our foam chemical line has everything from void fill to bracing; densities range from 0.3pcf to 0.9pcf. Our packaging foams are also available in versions that contain no CFCs or HCFCs. They can be purchased in returnable cylinders, non-returnable drums, or totes.

In this example, we see a heavy granite piece being prepared for shipping with a foam-in-place system:

A plastic film is placed in the bottom of the box.

Foam is squirted into the film, and slowly starts to expand.

The foam has partially expanded. The remaining plastic film is then folded on top of the foam.

The granite slab is placed on top of the plastic film. The foam continues to slowly expand, making a perfect fit around the slab.
